Reviewed: Xotic Effects Soul Driven Overdrive By far one of the most successful ‘always on’ pedals that I’ve come across is the EP booster made by Californian innovators Xotic Effects . This slim little number is intended to be reminiscent of the preamp stage of an Echoplex tape delay with the repeats dialed out, a trick used by Jimmy Page and The Beatles to add extra heat to what they already had.
10/31/2017 · It is striking that the Soul Driven sounds so good that in comparison the BB Preamp sounds a little narrow! The Xotic Soul Driven has a lot of body even with extreme settings, it’s always a treat to play with this pedal engaged. The fatal weapon of Sould Driven is really the Mid Boost control which is frighteningly effective.

2/13/2018 · The Soul Driven is very, very smooth in character. It’s not going to do the marshall thing. Also going to be a primarily lead pedal. To me the key thing about the Soul Driven is the feel of it when it’s on. Feel-wise the compression is spot-on. When it comes to how that play out in the sound, I can see where some may not like it.
